Another one we missed: Michael Davitt Museum

Born and buried in Straide near Foxford (25 mins drive from Tigh Mhic), Michael Davitt was a social reformer, international humanitarian, MP, and quite possibly the greatest patriot produced by Mayo. The museum dedicated to him (http://www.michaeldavittmuseum.com/) is well worth a look. Do have the guided tour, though, which is really, really interesting. It’s free, too, but feel free to make a donation. We did. Wish we’d discovered it sooner, too…

Downpatrick Head: one we missed!

A tip from Seán: I just went to Céide Fields for the first time in about a decade. Amazing place altogether. On the way back I took a detour to Downpatrick Head, about 10 minutes away. Wow! If you want special scenery this is the place to see. The massive Dún Briste (broken fort) sea stack has to be seen to be believed.
