Tigh Mhic Holiday Cottage, East Mayo, Ireland
Tigh Mhic (‘Mick’s Place’ in English) is a beautifully restored, 110-year old Congested District Board cottage in the small village of Bracklagh in East Mayo. While the cottage has kept its original proportions, the addition of new sash windows, underfloor heating, light, bright décor, high-quality fixtures and fittings and comfortable furniture make it a gem of a location.
Set in just over an acre, the property also includes three restored barns and two rescued miniature Shetland ponies – Timmy and Pancóg – who claim to do some of the gardening.
Tigh Mhic is an ideal place to unwind and enjoy the peace and relaxed pace of life here in East Mayo, or as a base to explore further into the County and beyond.

Our Guests Say it Best Tigh Mhic is a fabulous place to stay. We were worried as the lane got narrower and narrower that we had missed the cottage but, no there it was - nestled in the most glorious countryside with views to die for! We cannot fault the decor and equipment. Crisp white sheets on cosy beds and fluffy towels all added to the total comfort. The welcome box was a lovely surprise and certainly lived up to its name – home-made cookies included! Fabulous. We are already looking forward to our next visit The Sommerville family To arrive at a holiday accommodation with absolutely everything you need is a sheer delight. It was spotless and decorated to the highest standard. It is somewhere you can totally relax: so incredibly peaceful. The owners made us feel so welcome and recommended places to visit with the family. We can't wait to go again The Simson family The Ottewells were wonderful hosts and always on the end of the telephone or text with directions or restaurant recommendations. This was absolutely invaluable for us and something you would not experience staying in a large chain hotel The Canavan family Sean and Suzi have catered for every need. We have also used their catering service which is First Class. We had several lovely home cooked meals delivered to us - wish they'd bring it over to the UK!! I cannot recommend this cottage enough if you want a tranquil haven for a week's switch off. It is just perfect The McConnachie family Having stayed at Tigh Mhic cottage three times now I would recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet and relaxed holiday in a peaceful location. The owners Sean and Suzi live only a couple of miles away and are happy to provide any local information where needed. Their friendly advice and information has been much appreciated The Rowland family Have never taken the time to provide feedback before - but felt compelled to recommend a stay at Mick's Place. Myself and my wife and three kids had a great week in this cottage. We would highly recommend anyone seeking such a holiday to stay here The Mannion family My family have had four most enjoyable stays at Tigh Mhic. The location is beautifully peaceful - perfect for anyone wanting to chill out. We will definitely return. Many thanks for another enjoyable stay! The Bowery family
